MPXS-14

ive heard metal handles are much better but does it take away from the feeling of the pick?

That is a nice pick set and no, people put to much emphasis on the handles. You can still feel that is happening if you hold it like a pencil. It doesnt matter what the handles are made out of. Peterson picks which are the best picks, have rubber handles so don't get all caught up in the handle and material. That pick set will serve you well.

If you are intending on only single pin picking then obviously there will be alot of picks you will never use but i would personally go for the 14 piece set as you will want to experiment with raking at some stage and the MPXS-14 has quite a few good rakes in there. I have the 20 piece set and there is a few tools that you get double of, only the handle style is different (laminated vs plain) so really the 14 piece set has all the picks that I use anyway. I think if you get yourself that set you will be quite happy with it.

the SO sets are very nice starter sets IMO i had the 14 piece then bought the 32 piece and used them for a very long time.

after a while i bought a peterson set and added homebrews to that.
