Locksport Meetings

Postby Gelmar » 25 Jan 2008 17:07

I'm going to my first Locksport/Lockpicking Club meeting this Monday. I guess this question is some what silly, but I'm going to ask anyway. What exactly goes on at a locksport meeting? I understand the community aspect of it, but I'm still not sure what to expect. I don't have any really fancy or difficult locks, but should I bring the ones that I have? What kind of thing should I expect?

Locksport meetings are places to share and communicate with other people that enjoy the same hobby as you.

Sure, bring your locks, picks, an open mind, and thirst for knowledge and you will get a great deal out of your meetings.

I learn something new every month!

first timers at a meeting are also blindfolded, paddled, and made to walk on broken glass.

then they are handed a Medeco cylinder and told to pick it while a stripper across the room dances to Notorious B.I.G.

at least that's what we do at our meetings...

Hey Vito, You forgot to mention what we did to the new guy last meeting.

We put him in an air tight room, and the only way out was to pick the 3 cylinders on the door..........
a medeco m3
a schlage primus
and the assa twin.

I wonder if he ever got out???????? :?:

thats actually not a bad idea....

I think a new member to a locksport club has to pick several locks on his first night, and in order to get some kind of membership card or something that signifies his passage into the club, he should pick a lock on a lock box of some kind which contains a special item.

Btw.. here's how we keep our locks before a locksport meeting. They tend to get hot while picking, so we chill them before hand. and for anyone who thinks this is photoshopped, its not.

Glemar: You don't need to worry about a thing. Your comming the Flagship of all Locksport Meetings :) And just as vrocco said it, you will be learning with a bunch of us.

We will be learning about handcuffs and lock pick guns at the meetings this Monday. We are expecting around 25-30 people minimum. We will also watch an episode of Tiger Team and learn about the Kabba Gemini. LN, I hope you don't mind me showing your video to a room full of people :)

Sounds like alot of fun. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm assuming that 108 is the room number. Correct me if I'm wrong. I take classes at ACC >.> so I'm unfamiliar with everything but the Union Underground on the UT campus.

Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow Doug.
