Tubular Lock Help

Postby JayAre » 22 Mar 2008 17:27

I'v bought a coke soda machine at a local auction about a month ago, and well simply put it didn't come with a key. The auction gentlemen told me I could purchase a tubular lock pick that could be used for a key, I have done so I bought the Southord 7pin. And well I'v did some reading and tried two methods. I found first off getting all the feelers lined up at the top of the lock pick and push straight in the lock and barley move it back out with light tension, and wiggle and give some play and it should unlock. I tried over and over playing with the collar tension with light to medium tension. My meaning to light - medium would be the half ounce to one once of pressure. I also tried another second method of pulling the feelers back to the end of the 8th depth and single picking each feeler while applying tension. This method also didn't work.

The lock on the machine is an Ace II, I know they have different tension in the pins as I learned with the second method.

Is there any information that can help me accomplish this task, maybe a helpful tip.

Thanks...

Are you able to post a picture of the lock it sounds interesting. also what did the lock pick cost you? ONE last thing just wondered what you paid for the whole machine.

We don't make a habit of telling people how to open vending machine locks here. You need to call a locksmith. He or she will be happy to help you and leave you with a shiney new key.

Thanks Safety0ff but I still can't seem to get the darn thing to unlock. Must have some tricky security pins loaded. I'm going to keep trying...

Tubular Lock Help

Postby protect4u » 21 Apr 2008 21:28

I have a number of vending machines with various Ace locks. The newer the machine, the more complex the locking system. If you are doing it for sport then good luck. If you have acquired the machine and you intend to use it, I would seek out a vending machine repairman. They have a collection of numbered keys that will most likely open the machine. You will need a repairman if you are getting in the business anyway.

Good Luck!

Tubular Lock Help

Postby protect4u » 21 Apr 2008 22:16

I did a little research and found the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUzUiv3ZIdw One of the replies to the video details how they just bought a lock pick like yours. He goes on to say that he will make up the expense by getting into Pepsi and Coke machines. Kind of makes one wonder.

I think the theory of operation of tubular pick is that you imitate the key. correct me if I'm wrong.

So, if that kid has a key for that bike lock, simply recreating the key with the pick is hella easy.
