Filing Steel

Postby PickslikeRodenbarr » 26 Jun 2004 16:28

You'll all think I"m a noob for this,

Alright. So far, I have only made my picks out of steel nail. 1 time I tried hacksaw blade and I could barely grind it. It would probobly take me 2 or 3 weeks of filing at the rate I'm going to file it down. anyway, I am wondering how I can file spring steel and stainless steel into pick shapes without a grindwheel, (only hand files). I just don't know how u guys do it...
I can pick open your front door faster than you can use a key

Use a *NEW* file, and make sure its a quality one. Nicholson is a good brand. A bastard cut file only cuts on the foward stroke, so dont drag it back across the metal, this will just dull it.
