strange behaviour on a normal 5pin cylinder

Well, runed out of locks to pick in the house, except for that "dimple" wich i put asside (seems to be to hard to pick for amateurs), went to a store and got myself two cilinders (five pins, just for practice 5Euros each). one of them didn`t gave much problems, but the other, acts somewhat strange... i sense some pins settle (click and slight give on the torque) and then the last two pins do not get harder to push up, they dont get scwisord between the plug and the hull ,i think, plus, the ones that should be set, still have that spring feeling, like if the inside pin (what do i call it?) still pushes the key pin. cant get it. when i release the tension wrench i can hear the pins going back to their places, so why do they still push the key pins up? (i prefer to have the pins down)

one more question, what does jiggle means? my english does need improvments .....

take the locks apart and see if there are any security pins in it...

Congratulations Figo, you just described almost exactly the action of a binding mushroom or spool pin. This feel is more common in spool pins.

Basically, you are catching in the middle of a cutout in the driver pin. You can't push up past the lower ledge, but the spring pushes it down some, and you get that springy or mushy feeling.

Identify which pin stack has security pins, and use very gentle tension on those stacks. Once you have them in the proper place the rest of the shear lines will line up.

It simply takes a bit of time to develop the feel and technique for these pins.

I just got a new black and decker padlock - would probably be about 20 or 30 dollars, got it on sale for 8 though (liquidation world).
LOOKS like an american ripoff.


Not encountered on cheap practise locks:
security pins - several
same squishy feeling in picked pins. to make it more annoying:
theres no spring loading. (anywhere, shackle, cylinder, nothing)
so when I need to lighten the tension (I can feel I'm in the groove of the (I think) mushroom pin....
but it doesnt auto-return. I've found that jamming another wrench in at the bottom of the keyway with the first wrench tightens its 'grip' on the inside of the keyway, allowing me to reverse the tension ever so slightly to get those pins to set.

that said - its an 08480 from the looks of the key (approximately - I dont think you can have an eight next to a zero, can you?)

whatever the case, the wards make quick work of befuddling my picks getting that last pin - the diff in pin heights is exactly that of the top of the tang on my pick to the top of the end of the hook - so I can BARELY squeak it past, no doubt oversetting the #4 pin.

I can go front to back, click click click click stuck. this lock is EVIL.

maybe I need some slimlines.

Take a dremmel to your pick and slim it down a bit then you should be ok. I have a yale i deliberately pinned to be like this and it is achievable with practice.

i broke a pick already (my favourite hook) trying to pick this cilinder,
i think the brand is "soffi".
