im at a road block

i just got into lock picking last year and went at it for a couple months. i got pretty good with the locks i have now. the cheap masterlocks for bikes and lockers. not sure about the model number.

i was even picking them with paperclips at one point.
but its been 6 or so months since ive been picking because i lost my hook pick. the only one i have success with picking.

all i use now is the half diamond and i can never open the locks. only if i get lucky.

and i cant seem to advance to more advanced locks. the most advance one ive done so far i would say is my room door.

ive been looking around online but i cant find those clear locks or the ones where i can see if im actually lifting and setting right and if what im feeling is the right thing.

Mac has a good point, but what motivates a lock picker? A harder lock to be sure, but a lock previously defeated with regularity that you now have to "jimmy" to open? Not encouraging. Find a lock you can open with the half diamond. Once you find a lock you open faster than the other's focus on why it's happening. I read somewhere that when a lock sets you shouldn't let the momentary thrill distract you from replaying the events leading up to it. Kinda like you don't wanna watch a good hit from homeplate, or when you put up a good 2 pointer you still go in in for the rebound. Whatever metaphore you like. It has helped me in the past to learn with new picks. Practice is the mantra.
