Lock Technology 620

Postby Eyes_Only » 28 Jul 2004 11:12

Well I just got my Lock Technology Grand Master Automotive pick set. This thing is a pretty big set. Anyways, my question is that the instruction manual that came with it said it is not necessary to use the tension wrench when picking with the rocker picks, only with the foreign lock pick set. This true? I was under the impression that if you use the rocker pick (or any pick for that matter) to apply turning pressure on the lock you will damage the pick. Can anyone enlighten me?

I have the same set I think it says you dont need a wrench when doing an ignition doesn't it? If that is the case it is because you can use that thing around the ignition to apply torque, but other than that you need a tension wrench with the picks in that set.

By the way I thought the wrench that came with that set was junk so I ordered these and they work well. http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... ProdID=269

My instructions says you dont need it for door, trunk or ignition. I guess i could try but still a lil scared that ill bust my $89 dollar "investment", hehe.
I was once considering getting the D-216 tension tool as well but they look like it could scratch the paint job around the door so im looking into the D-215. What do you think?

I don't have the D-215 but I would really like to try it. I have the D-233 and its a real peice of crap when it comes to automotve locks but, I doubt if that was the intended purpose.

For the money I would give the D-216 wrenches a try. When you are holding it your finger gets in the way of the wrench and the car so I doubt if it would be a problem.

I'll clear this up for ya since I just received my set as well.

With any lock you require tension on the plug in order to turn it.

That said, you can now add a little common sense. If you can apply tension to the plug without the use of a tension wrench using the "ears" of the ignition, then why bother using a tension wrench? Door locks, and some ignitions including most imported auto's, and vehicles with "in-dash" ignitions, will not have these "ears", so then another device must be added to successfully complete the job.
