Are these locks still in use? I'm going through the lesson in the F-B course about them now. They look interesting, however the general concept seems insecure, as there are no different depths It seems to me it would be easy for someone to look at the key and be able to reproduce one later. Not to mention the master system! Geez... I know a regular master system is less secure than a lock that is not master keyed, but this is just silly!

I thought the same thing when I hit that lesson. I even posted an ad on the buy/sell board looking to buy one but never even got a reply. I have never seen one but I would sure like to get one just for practice and messing around with. They sure look easy enough to pick and that's why I wanted one to see how tough and secure they really were.

If you find any let me know because I sure would be interested in one!!! :D :D :D :D

Thats one of the things about the F-B course... I really enjoy it... and I've learned so much.. don't get me wrong.. but I wish they didn't include so many lessons with just an exam at the end... For example.. I wish they would have sent a GM Sidebar lock, I wish they would have sent a Schlage Wafer Lock, maybe some lever locks too... All kinds of things they talk about.. but you don't get to see... I would really like to see them send more locks to the students and allow us to really take them apart and get to know them rather than just looking at some diagrams.

Schlage wafers are rare birds in some parts of the US. By me, there are plenty of rather oldish houses, so I've seen quite a few, but only picked the one on my back door.
