some problems + lock identification

Postby marklim » 25 Sep 2008 20:39

hi guys,

i'm started lock picking few years back just for fun and recently came across my lock picking set again and thought that i might continue my hobby to improve.

i'm able to open simple wafer locks that i tried. however, i'm having trouble with this lock.

upon releasing the tension wrench, i can hear few clicks but no matter how hard i try to pick, it just wouldn't open.

can anyone tell me whats wrong ? and what lock is this considered as ?

also, im using a southord set and picking this lock with a half-diamond pick.

pardon my ignorance.

wow thats a cool looking lock.

you might also want to mention any numbers that are on the lock, for reference.

4 pin stacks, security drivers and probably 3 anti pick key pins. What I am going to call double spool drivers. Doesn't matter what the key pins are, if you overset the pin stack you are stuck with letting some pins reset.

If you are already lost, then I suggest putting down this lock and doing some thread searching on "security pin" picking.

This type of lock is considered a padlock.

This pin tumbler lock is going to be much more difficult than a simple wafer lock like a desk or filing cabinet lock. It is not unpickable, but will require more focus than jimmying open a tool box.

Cool lock. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Looks like mushroom pins. They are a bear to pick.

Nice Viro man.. I have a 4 pin lock.. but that lock is pretty bad-as$

It has security pins, which means supra little tension.. Viro's are sometimes really hard to pick

It's just too bad that this video is a typical EZP rip-off. Every bit of the content in there was created by Deviant Ollam and all this guy did was stick a title in front of each animation. Deviant gives one of the best picking talks ever, by the way:

I believe all of Deviant's slides are copyleft, at least they were previously. Could be using material from those.
