What are the common thickness of a lockpick or professional thickness of a lockpick. For American locks

There's no single thickness that's "best" for every situation. It depends on the application. Usually you'll find they range anywhere from .020" to .025". When I checked one of my HPC picks with a micrometer, it measured about .022". That's a nice thickness for general purpose picking. For tight/small paracentric keyways, there are really thin picks around .015" and .017" thick. I've even experimented with super thin .010" picks.

Use the right tool for the right job.

Peterson, Southord, HPC, and to a lesser extent; Majestic, for starters.

And how about for paracentric keyways - especially very restrictive ones like:

I had to modify one of my GOSO pics and severely flatten the hook out to even get it into that keyway.

I'm looking for very thin, very low profile and still strong enough to SPP with... I know... Don't say it. "Pick any Two"

why ?

they are ones of the best picks i've ever tried... Not a lot of raking picks tho, but a nice variety of finger picks and they dont bend...

Nobody has any commercial picks they'd recommend for itty-bitty paracentric keyways?

There is a Peterson slender set (JP-SS) that has 0.015 thick picks. They are supposed to be decent for picking the paracentrics, but personally I haven't used anything but the hook from that set (worked well, though).

the thickness is one thing, ans the shape of the blade is another. IMO these slender pick looks more like a USA pick than a slim line like the Southords (which ones i don't recommend).

From what I was reading, the best picks you'll ever have are the ones you make. If you can't. I recommend getting a custom made set from some people in Locksmith Manual like LockNewbie21, ToolyMcgee, steve0527(if he would I dunno).

I've got some custom picks. I'm looking for some commercial picks made for the paracentric keyways. The pick thickness isn't so much of an issue as their vertical profile.
