So I've been lurking around, and every once in a while i see medeco pop up.
From the way it's used, i get the feeling that medeco is a pain in the rear to pick.
could someone confirm this for me? I've been trying to pick one for ages, but i can't, and that would explain it. or maby is psycological, and I'm just reading to far into it.
Thanks

Medeco is a high security lock and definitely not for beginners. Its also a very popular one and has been considered mostly pickproof for a long time. Very recently, this community has made a lot of progress against them and this has caused quite a bit of excitement.

on a related note, is there any tips/tricks to help get past them?
it was my first real lock i tried to pick, and if for nothing else but sentimentals sake, I'd like to get through it at least once.

medeco locks are high security locks, they are designed to be hard to pick, some are even used in government buildings

It is unlikely you will get any help here as this is "advanced" material. you have to be oked for the advanced part of the forum to get at this information.

I thought we were alowed to talk about Medeco in the open forum now, there was some discussion a while ago whether everyone thought it should be allowed.

yeah, i just finished watching a video that, by sheer coincidence(I'm dead serious), went into how a metaco lock works.
holly. darn.
I won't go into it for fear of being modded, but now i feel a whole lot better about not being able to pick it. from what i gathered, that's easily one of the best, if not THE best pin-locks on the market.
not sure what the point of this post is, now that I've read it over, but still. darn good thinking on their part.

Yes, Medeco has been "de-advanced" with the exception of destructive entry and bypass techniques. Discuss picking all you want.

For those not on the advanced part of the site, I can tell you that the medeco picking information cannot be located there in a compact organized form, though you can read discussions, and there may be some photos of the Tobias/Blusimanis code setting keys, and the medecoder. You still have to take detailed knowlege of the basic function of the medeco lock with you to understand the discussions. So if you are encountering a medeco lock, and there are varieties of them, you should probably aspire to finding out how to dissasemble it non destructively so that you can see how the parts work.
when you pull the plug out, use a black marking pen on the end of the plug and the side bar, so that when you put it back together, by rematching the marks accross the end of the plug and sidebar you will not have reoriented the sidebar.
Some medecos are cam locks and do not have all the parts of a full dimension cylinder, but the full cylinders do have allen screws as caps for the pin collumns, so that should be easy for you to take the pins out one collumn at a time and keep the parts organized.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
