Just got my first lock pick set:D

Postby plutomic » 13 Nov 2008 20:31

hey guys. I just got my first lock pick set and googled this website...

I have been expermimenting with my snake rake for a while now, and i am stuck.. I can get almost every pin in my lock up, except for the last one. Every lock will stay up when i jiggle around the snake rake for a few seconds, but the very last pin wont go up...

Would someone please explain to me what im supposed to do :)?

Because a pin stack is "up" doesn't mean it is correctly set. It sounds like you are oversetting pin stacks and getting bottom or top pins to bind in the wrong place, rather than set. That last stack won't stay above the shear line because you haven't pick all of those before it :)

Try lightening your tension and not lifting the stacks so high unless necsessary.

Try using a hook and Single Pin Picking (SPP). it shouldnt be too hard, and you will learn SPP and what a binding pin feels like.

Yah, SPP is where lockpicking gets really fun. I would hit some of the tutorials on this sight, or even on, god help me, youtube.

raking is fun for the first few times, and opening your first few locks is a blast, but actually knowing it is your skill vs. the lock... That's what does it for me.

well sometimes raking won't work at first time ,but may work later after you done Single Pin Picking also that way, you will learn what a binding pin feels like ,you may try short hook or dimond pick see it that help. you got to try different ways of picking and different picks and see which one work for you. later you will be suprised the pick you used before that did not work now it does work, hope this helps
