This post brought up a very important topic for me. I personally pick in a clockwise direction 99% of the time. My hands are almost always in the exact same position and I try to keep everything consistently the same each time. The reason for this is that I was trying to master the mechanics without introducing too much variation; kind of like when you first learn to shoot a jump shot. You do it the same over and over until you can nail it everytime before you begin to add variation.
But do you think this actually stunts growth in picking? Should I be picking in both directions instead of trying to master one direction?
Also am I limiting the ease of picking as many people have mentioned it can be much easier for some locks to be picked in certain directions.
I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts.
