I know that car locks are different than other types of locks, as becuase there are car jigglers. My story is as such: My bother told me of a kid that goes to our community college who spent 4 years in the Florida State Pen for stealing cars. My brother is this kid (lets call him Eddy) were at a party and somebody locked their keys in their car. Instead of calling a locksmith, Eddy got up went out to the car and within in a matter of minutes was back with the car owners keys. As far as I know Eddy had no tools on him, probably just the regular stuff you might carry in your pocket. When asked how he did it, Eddy simply replied "Don't worry about it."
Is this story possible, and how do you believe he went about doing this?

Poosible, especially if the kid was an accomplished car thief.

He probably carries jigglers, if not maybe he grabbed a coat hanger on the way out. There's really no way of knowing what he did. But to answer your question yes it is possible.

Probably jiggler... I don't know about the coat hanger... If the car was made within the last 15 or even more years you would be kidding yourself to get into a car within 5 minutes with a coat hanger if at all...
Nota Bene:
I have just launched into car openings so this information may be slightly wrong, but from the tools i made... lets just say you have to know each specific car before you know what tool... Romstar and Varjeal can clarify this...

Your question was general enough that it shouldn't pose a problem as long as the replies don't get too specific. Basically, is it possible? Yes, yes it is...

I once locked myself out of my '95 minivan and had it opened in about 5 minutes with a coat hanger. This was before I even thought about learning locksmithing. Looking at my '02 van, I can see ways of getting it opened with one.
Maybe not knowing it can't be done is an advantage.

You can tell Luke is modifying his thinking to that of a locksmith.....he's taking into consideration opening the vehicle with extremely little chance of damage...hehehe...
Btw...opening a vehicle (well, most newer vehicles anyways) safely with only a coat hanger in under 5 minutes is through a process called "LUCK".

At a party. locked keys in car...
I wonder if anyone checked the other doors? Granted, he might have gone out with the intention and ability to open the car by other means, but if I was in that position and the passenger side was unlocked, I would probably be pretty tempted to capitalize on promoting my mystic lock picking superpowers...
Sounds like no one actually witnessed it.

Hahaha...good call...also assuming he didn't go outside to find the keys lying on the ground by the door.

{edited by Varjeal: car opening procedures should be discussed in advanced forums only. Thanks.}
