Schlage Everest IC core bypass...

Postby Puzzlerf » 12 Jan 2009 22:26

Today at work I noticed an easy bypass on schlage everest IC cores in leversets. Not sure if anyone posted or if it's common knowledge. I figured out two ways, both depending on the hardware. Wondering if it's been posted or already known. I'm horrible at written explanations so I'll take some pictures with my phone tomorrow.

Nice find, but I'm sorry to tell you that bypassing information is advanced area only. So if you want to have your finding confirmed and discussed, send it to some of the moderators/admins or me and will post it in the advanced area.

I wouldn't really call the Everest high security. It just has a check pin.

Everest is patented, however the C series blanks (C123, C145, etc) are open. Schlage sings consistent quality as a selling point, because they have total control over quality.

The C series blanks are open distribution, so it is illegal to make aftermarket blanks, but the OEM blanks are available to anyone. This just ensures they have the sole market over blanks. Their claim is true to a degree though. OEM Schlage blanks are made of nickel silver, even SC1s. The patented Everest ensures cheap, lower durability brass blanks don't get in the hands of customers.

The D series don't work any differently. Simply, the keyways are different and they're still protected under the same patent as the C series against third party manufacturing, butSchlage Lock Co. chose to designate as restricted and sell the blanks to authorized buyers.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I could post it on here or not. I didn't get a chance to photograph anything today, will try again tomorrow.

I need to buckle down and work on getting advanced access. I'm always figuring out bypasses for locks. Figured out one for low end electronic safes and another for Master trailer hitch locks.
