Starting problems

Postby M_Hvenegaard » 24 Jan 2009 5:24

Hey Pickers!

I just started being interrested in lock picking some weeks ago and I would like to learn more about it - unfortenately I had some starting problems because I can't find anywhere where I can buy some bump keys. (or it has been very expensive)
I have seen videos about making bump keys but it would be cool if I could have some which where made by machine.

Therefore I advertise for someone who would copy his bump keys which should be easy and cheap and sent it to me - offcourse I'll pay the total expense doing it! The most common locks in Denmark are Ruko - 5 and 6 pins!

I also wanna know what else I need to start lock picking? - Heard that you have to have some system keys also?

Regards 'The Starter' :)

If your just starting out with lockpicking then i would go for some picks, bumpkeys do work on locks but are not 100%.
learn to understand the locks, any fool can use a bumpkey, but i think it gives new comers to the hobby/trade a false sense of achievment, sorry to sound so negative but learn the skill my friend, you'll be glad you did :)

I'm just about to learn about locks - reading texts from Toool and watching videos - I just wanna get started; fast and easy to begin with. I realy find lock picking fascinating.

For starting out lock picking you don't need bump keys, especially those that work on every other door in your country, as it doesn't sound legit to me.

Nope, doesn't sound legit.

Why would you need to open the locks fast and easy if you are a beginner locksport enthusiast? Especially locks that are very common in your country in homes.

Then as i say, learn to pick the locks, bumpkeys are not the way to go to learn abt locks, you learn nothing from them except tap tap tap and the occasional hit finger.

Even if there was someone who would cut you a Ruko bump key to code, it's still extremely difficult to bump a Ruko. Your chances of picking this lock as a beginner are also next to nothing.

System keys, bump keys, "fast and easy"? Either you are talking about methods of gaining entry, or you are really confused about the nature of the sport. If you are actually interested in LOCK PICKING, then find a different practice lock and check out this thread http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=39809

Like what has been stated above, if you are really interested in picking as a sport and an a means to something less than legit I would recommend getting some picks and some cheap locks.

I know that when I started that I started with some easy locks. I went as far as to get the locks with 1-5 pins, now I use those to help new people that I introduce to the sport. You can even start making your own with yale locks by repinning them.
