duplicating tool's

Postby abel aguilera » 16 Feb 2009 13:38

Does any body know how to construct a pump wedge from scratch? I know more less you need a pump, a valve, and some tubing. But what I don’t know is what type of material is the wedge made of and where I can duplicate one very sufficiently…

you will have a hard time making the wedge to withstand the pressure of squeezing doors open, If you don't want to buy one, you may be able to make one from an old blood pressure cuff. Otherwise you are going to have a hard time finding the right material and sealing it up to hold the air.

I've seen them made from bike inner tubes but only work after trying a ton of different stuff to get them to seal. Usually rubber vulcanizing compound that they used to retread tires. But its messy as hell and not really worth the time. Online they're pretty cheap. Steck ones seem to be the best

Anything is possible, but it's much easier just to buy one. I always consider what my time is worth, before I make something unless it's something I want to build as a hobby.

Steer clear of blood pressure cuffs, they go POP too easily if used for anything other than measuring blood pressure. I know, I've tried.
