great instructions, i have a broken key extractor, and now i know how to use it

Only thing I see...is you suggest using WD40......that's a NO NO IMHO! :)

Good info. IMO, the easiest way to remove broken keys, which is pretty foolproof, is to use your bypass method of choice to get access to the back of the door, and then push the key out from the back of the keyway.

As a lockie, I find that 9 out of 10 broken keys are the right key, in the right lock, snapped off no more than 1 cut from the bow and can be opened simply by turning the plug with small screwdriver. It takes a special genious to break off the tip of a key, halfway down the plug!
