Where Can I Buy A Tubular Lock?

Postby Emrys » 19 Feb 2009 22:53

I've been scouting the stores, but with no luck. Aside from the internet, anyone know a local store that carries 8 pin tubular locks? I don't care if it's in a bike lock, desk lock, padlock, etc...

Actually, more specifically I just need a used 8 pin tubular lock key. Local locksmith shops don't seem to be helping all that much.

Any ideas?

Go to a bigger lock shop or call a mobile guy. They are so cheap....sometimes too cheap to stock. They sit and sit and sit on the shelf.

I'll give it a shot. I don't like looking too conspicuous either. I always get the question "Oh, what do you need THAT for?" They don't like the "I pick locks for fun" answer too much :)

Thanks.

A lot of lockies have attitude toward locksport. If they say "what do you want that for?" just tell them "I have cash"

Just tell them that your neighbor has a seven pin lock and you want to be one-up on him.

Yea, I usually make a pretty bogus excuse that seems to fly. Not to get too off topic but I went into the music store the other day to pick up some guitar string wire for a medeco feeler pick that JK_the_CJer recommended to me. He asked me what guage I needed and I gave him this weird look. Finally I just fessed up and pulled a medeco pin out of my pocket and explained my story. lol He thought it was cool I picked locks. My girlfriend was the one that told me to just tell him what I needed it for. He was cool about it. Good thing too 'cuz we tried 5 different guages before I settled on an 18 guage wire that worked best at manipulating the medeco pin notch.
