Personally, I don't like many of the practice locks or training locks. They really don't have the same tolerances as real locks, and you'll be able to pick them rather quickly. At least, that has been my experience.

Kwikset is better to start with because it is easier than Schlage; no security pins, lower tolerances, and an easier to work with keyway.
