Security pins?

Postby E22 » 19 Apr 2009 15:55

Hey all, I've got a simple quesition. I just recently got into picking, so I bought a lock to practice on.
However I dont have any tools, so I made a simple wrench I used the metal thing on the pen, lol, and made a few picks from bobby pins and a few from paper clips.
Anyway, I was wondering if it might have a security pins.
What I noticed is when I put a medium pressure I can rake most of the pins and push the remaining ones one by one, but I cannot open the lock... After some time I decided to keep lowering the pressure when all the pins are up. Then I could hear 2 pins fall down, the first one and one in the back I think. After I put those two pins up with minimal pressure lock usually opens.
The lock doesnt have much info, the box I got the lock in says 40mm, super hardened shackle and on the side it says a padlock of the highest protection. Its a Lince lock made in spain, I took a picture.

No, these do not have security pins (spool).

You are probably hitting the wrong pins with your improvised tools. PLEASE start with real lockpicks instead or you'll barely make any progress, even if you open it once by luck.

Haha, aww, thats a shame...
Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I did manage to unlock this lock like 15 times or so today, but yeah, I will be getting tools. :)
