Well, This is Crackerjack and as of today I am off of this lockpicking site. All I did is ask a simple question about key identification and I get one reply telling me about the crime rate going up in my area if I were to get this information and another person warning me about don't do anything stupid. I did get the information from a very nice moderator who freely answered my question. I am a student learning this trade to a licensed locksmith and I am sorry that I should have known what lock these keys open. I will miss this site very much but that really hurt me a lot.

The smiley faces should of been a giveaway..

Also, since you brought it up, your story makes really no sense at all now. Why send away for bumpkeys when your working under a locksmith? have him cut some up for you...

Also, why even need to ask here? Ask your locksmith that you are working under.. Heck, as a student you should be able to know the short versions of the key types..

We will miss you, and welcome you back. I'd say more, but I don't want to offend you anymore.

I think as long as the key fit in the locks it should be able to successfully bump the lock. Just match the shape of the keyhole to the shape of the bump key. Hope this helps..

There are several factors important for a successful bump key, here are a few that come to mind:
- number of pins in the lock
- spacing between the pins
- height of the pins in rest

So a 5 pin bump key won't work on a 6 pin lock, regardless if the profile fits the key way.
If the pins are not on the same locations as the bitting in the key, then you are going to have a hard time bumping it.
I've seen locks where the pins in rest hardly reach the half of the keyway and I've seen others that reach almost to 3/4 of the key way.
This will also influence the bump keys working on a lock.

So your statement is not correct ;)

and unfortunately your statement is not strictly correct either...its extremely possible to use a 5 pin bumpkey on a six pin lock, the leading edge of the tip hits the sixth pin  :D
if everyone who tried something new liked it but didnt bother telling anyone else there would never be anything new to try...
