Material question

Postby tjweaver84 » 4 Jun 2009 8:06

Okay I found these 3 pieces of metal in the parking lot at work. They are about the same dimensions as streesweeper bristles (maybe a tiny bit thicker) but they are about 2-2.5 feet long. They work great for both picks and torsion wrenches and I would like to know how I can get more. When I first saw them I thought wiper inserts but then I picked them up and they don't feel the same they definitely feel more like the bristles just longer plus they had the broken end. Anyone have any idea where these may have come from?

Is it bent in the middle? One of the bristles I found was about as long as you described, bent in the middle. Come to find out that some styles of sweeper head hold them in bent, instead of individually.

They weren't bent in the middle they were straight. Maybe they came from a piece of equipment from when they resurfaced the parking lot or maybe they just have different style street sweepers here in Japan.

I feel stupid I just figured out where they came from. They are bristles from one of the rakes we use at work. We have a couple rakes that have steel bristles and these came from one of them. Still say they work great though.
