Need advice on buying a lock

Postby Xzore7 » 12 Jul 2009 23:15

Hi, I recently bought a set of lockpicks and am looking for some locks to practice on using the method suggested in one of the topics of repinning one. Looking for a 5 pin cylinder deadbolt lock I've found a few on ebay and was wondering if anyone could tell if they are indeed 5 pin locks.

Also, any advice on if I'm even on the right track for finding a suitable practice lock would be great too. Thanks! =)

Those are in fact 5 pin locks. You can buy them from home depot for around 15 dollars so it doesn't look like ebay is much cheaper. That is the type I started learning on that and various master locks then I moved up to the Schlage to start learning how to deal with security pins. The kwikset also has the easy to remove cap for repinning but you can also pop the plug out to repin it.

Best suggestion- Goto the local goodwill and/or restore, etc places. They normally have BINS of used locks for cheap. (People have even found $200.00 PLUS locks in those places, for $5.00 !!!)
