Differencec between Euro and American Picks?

Postby SwiftNinjaCow » 11 Aug 2009 23:40

I know they are smaller, but in which way? Thinner or smaller hooks and diamonds on the tip? I was going to get the normal American ones, but if the other ones are easier I may get them. Or am I just making a mountain out of a molehill, over analyzing this situation?

The euro picks are thinner because european locks, in general, have tighter keyways. It isn't much of a difference if you are picking american locks mostly, but many people would recommend to just buy the euros for the little bit of extra working room you'll get in all locks.

I recommend this too, but only once you learn how to use a pick and there's no risk of breaking/bending it.

Don't mean to sound overconfident, but how hard can it be? I won't be doing anything too radical...

That is a great question.

I have never bent or broken a pick... I have made some way too thin just before the half diamond tip... and it works great. (of course its usually not on purpose)

How much does it take to bend or break a pick... not being one to attempt to break my picks. Does anyone here have a way to describe how much force it takes... :?:
