Stupid question...

Is bitting for depths pronounced as it "bit" or "bite". Just don't want to sound like a moron when discussing verbally with people.

I promise not to turn it into a real stupid question by asking three times...

I tend to call it "bit" like "a little bit of this or that". my friend does too. so that makes two of us...

I think this is a very good question, so never think you're being stupid.

I vote for bitting, as in "hitting" not as in "riding" If a dog is biting "bite-ing" someone it is only 1 "t", with 2 "t"'s it changes the pronunciation to the same ending as hitting or pitting.

good question, keep them coming.

Little offtopic (or on topic, pun intended): Next time I suggest to really think about the topic title more. Now the title doesn't come up in searches easily and doesn't give any insight about the topic itself.

If a decimal digit's a dit,
And a binary digit's a bit,
If you begin to get weary,
And want something less dreary,
Try playing with trinary tits.

Hope this ditty clears up the pronounciation.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
