wheel clamping

noticed a thread already locked on wheel clamping, but another way to deal with it would be to pick the lock, move the car to a more legal position and then reclamp it. You could then claim you had been illegally/unfairly clamped.

'Picked the lock? dont be ridiculous...'

I hope you are joking.

Otherwise I would hope that they took a picture just after clamping it :!:

What you are suggesting, joking or not, is heavily frowned upon around here.

Nobody said anything about a joke, so that attitude is against the ethics of locksport and especially this forums. The lock is in use, it is not your lock and in the real world that is called a fraud.

pish and tosh.

In the UK clamping is used almost exclusively by the scum of the earth, who delibertely obfuscate and hide signs so they can fine people for leaving a car unattended for 2 minute, then tow within minutes so they can charge ludicrously dissproportionate fines. Nobody is suggesting messing with DVLA or other official bodies' clamps, but any one else clamping a vehicle is (morally if not legally) comitting blackmail and exhortion, and if they are ever unwise enough to do it to me, will be lucky if they ever find their clamp again.

The forum is international, the users just are mainly from US. For example I'm not anywhere near UK or US and I still have that opinion.

Wheel clamping is not allowed here by law, the police or city parking control teams will leave a 25-40 EUR fine for improperly parked car. If the car is parked so that it can be a hazard (like in the way of fire exits), the police can have it towed and the owner gets a large fine and also gets to pay the towing fees.

Sounds like in UK anyone can put some signs up and start clamping cars that are parked against the rules. In here the only signs that are legit and those that have to be followed are installed by the city. And there are pretty simple rules to where the sign can be, what the size is and what it has to or can't contain etc., so "hiding" is not possible :)

Haha very funny. You best be joking, but I fear you are not..

And what Jaakko said about your post is very correct. That is frowned upon here.

The 'boots' in my area utilize ACE-II's. I was pretty impressed the first time I saw one.

I'm glad you do not. Myself, other members and other moderators do. Please respect the rules of this site.

No more discussions on this- it is very simple.
