$200 key duplicator

Postby LocksmithArmy » 6 Nov 2009 5:48

I was browsin the bazaar (where all the iraqis set up shops and sell junk), when i came across a fully automatic key duplicator... it had 4 vices... so it could duplicate 2 keys at once...

some cheap china brand. the guy said he uses it but he sells em too. i asked how much and he said 200... is that a good price?

eventually ill get me a nice one but for 200 and its fully automatic... i just dont know about the brand... it looked nice, it had a little wire wheel on it for deburring on the top...

any comments on the price though

If it is a China made machine I wouldn't get it unless they were giving them away. I've heard they do work but I've never read any reviews that praised them in anyway. Although I heard the high security machines from China works well for the price and that some locksmiths run around with those machines and high security depth and space keys.

Truth of the matter is, there are some name brand machines that are actually made in china! i wouldn't buy it, but it might be ok to start out with, put it this way, anything is better than a foley-belsaw machine!!

It sounds really good value if it works well. Maybe you could get him to cut a couple of keys for you, as he uses it himself, and see if they are any good.

I have a nice manual key machine that is Chinese made, I bought it new in Colombia for $180.00. One side does regular cylinder keys and the opposite side does flat steel keys, bit keys, and abloy classic keys. The jaws more closely resemble a Bravo III than anything else, and are of fine machined steel, not cast. This machine is a great all in one machine and has never failed me or let me down in any way.

Some of the Chinese machines are actually very serviceable and of good quality.

Do you know it's name (if any) and maybe which model it is? I'm guessing it might be like one of those sold on www.lockpicks.com.

If and when you can post up pics of that thing. I'm starting to do some research lately on duplicators and which ones best suits my needs when I can afford it in the future.
