The springs are pushing the pin stacks into the bottom of the keyway. This space is usually filled by the spine of the key, and it's common for the plug to lock up at the 180 position like this when picking. All you need to do is push the pins back into the bible with a pick and it'll be free to turn again. You can apply tension and push them all up simultaeneously or give them a quick rake, whichever you prefer.

Also, welcome to the forums!

Take a look into the keyway to see if any springs are stuck in there, it's rare but sometimes it can happen. If the keyway looks clear and normal then no, the lock isn't faulty. You just need to push the key pins up to free up the shear line and the plug will rotate as normal.

no, its not faulty... if it works with the key

try using the back of your tensor and pushing the driver pins up with the back long of your tensor(after you have picked it of course)

or any other flat piece that will fit in all the way to the last pin... bobby pin, piece of stiff wire... slimlie pick...

just keep trying, you will find the method that works best for you
