iseo dimple lock

Postby lemsip » 8 Dec 2009 16:12

hi can anyone help me with this problem.
i havethis iseo dimple lock and had no luck picking it.
i have drilled the shear line and the and the plug turns freely, but it wont engage the cam to open the door.
would using a spare key from another door engage the cam? (dont want to try it incase it gets stuck.)
or can anyone tell me the best way to go about this problem?
many thanks

You really should get to grips with the full procedure before attempting this kind of thing... what are you doing drilling out the lock on someones door anyway? You shouldn't even be considering that stuff unless you know 100% what you're doing. I'd love to help, but unfortunately destructive entry is againt the rules here. It's simple enough to figure out though.

Anyway moving on, I'm assuming you're talking about the Iseo R6? They're nice little locks! You should grab yourself some dimple picks and get some practice in, they're actually not too tricky.

thanks for the input but i didnt ask for a lecture.
the reason i drilled it out was because i was asked to .
this wasnt picking for fun it was more urgent than that.
you sound like you know how i could get the cam turned .
why not just tell me rather than talking to me like your my dad.?
as i said no lectures please somthing constructive for the destruction please.

hey it is an r 6 by the way.
im not trying to be a smart arse either.
the carpel tunnel syndrome (from hours of picking) has also made picking impossible.

Funny, Solomon offered you the best advice. Nor do I think he was "lecturing" you at all... But I will.

Destructive entry is not discussed here. End of that story. No one will help you with this question.

If your a locksmith, you should not need to ask how to drill this lock. So I stand by the other member who said you should not of undertaken this in the first place.

Also, please try to understand- this is a hobbiest site- not a locksmith self help forum. There is a big difference.

Thanks.

ok fair enough ,if thats this sites policy thats fine and dandy.
but i do see a certain conflict of interest here when if i had reworded my post a little
ie not mentioned the drilling i would get the answer, no problem.
anyway i think the blank will turn it.
thanks

Yes, I know exactly what you have to do but unfortunately we're not allowed to discuss that stuff here. Judging by your terminology you're familiar with the overall mechanism, so frankly I'm surprised you didn't figure it out straight away. If you drilled it properly, the plug should rotate the cam no problem, so by the sounds of things there could be a key in the other side. How did this guy get locked out exactly?

i work as a joiner . the site i am one of the guys lost the keys to 3 apartments .
i have opened 2 but the 3 rd is dificult being up a set of ladders and trying to work from behind a metal gate. the boss is also a bit of a miser and wont pay for a locksmith.
no entry means no pay.
no offence ment to anyone .
thanks

Even if your boss did call a locksmith a lot of them will probably have drilled the padlock anyways cos they can sometimes be a pain to open. Especially if they are used outside allowing dirt and moisture to collect in there.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
