hack saw blades are great. if you need wiper inserts visit some auto garages or something similar and ask if you can have their used ones that they just throw away. i go to auto zone and theres usually a few in the trash out side.

Wiper blade inserts. Try the auto department at local Walmart.

I think someone here had an entire sweeper head up for sale and you could get as many bristles as you needed. Poke around in Manual Picks, or using Google and putting site:lockpicking101.com in your searches or the built in Search.

searching google for "sweeper head site:lockpicking101.com" got me this: http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46113

good luck,

Sorry, I'm down to my own stash now. I'd be happy to send out some used ones though, and maybe even a couple pieces of virgin for your "keeper" picks. But the vast stash I had is gone to all you guys... 2000 12" bristles!

I have a bunch of wiper inserts, but no street cleaner bristles. Are these both comparable in quality? It seems from what I've read that a lot of people prefer the street cleaner bristles, but I'm not quite sure why.

If I was going to make my own picks I would grab some high carbon (1095) stock. I'm not sure what street sweeper bristles or wiper inserts are made of, but I'd like to be able to heat treat them precisely.

Well I'll be glad I have tons of wiper inserts then. They're much easier to get, too. I just go down to the junkyard and the dudes there are more than happy to let you take as many as you need. All the street sweepers where I live have plastic bristles, I'm pretty sure, so I can never get them.
