Having trouble with my double sided wishbone tension wrench

Every time I try to use this tension wrench it shoots out of the keyway to the other side of the room. I don't understand how this can be inserted into a lock and used without flying out.
The reason I bought it in the first place was because one of my locks had a keyway that was too wide for my current standard tension wrench. Every time I put it in it would lay nearly horizontal instead of applying torque while vertical.
Do you have any suggestions?

Maybe I've been using mine wrong all along, but it stays in the pick case. Too complicated for me.

You have to hold the arms of the wrench the correct distance apart, AND keep pressure on it so it stays inside the keyway, AND apply rotational tension. Or you bend the arms in toward center to just about the right spread, but you still have to keep it pressed into the keyway while applying tension.

It takes a very light hand. Maybe I'll come back to it later.

Maybe you could try a wider L shaped tension wrench for now, or a top of the keyway version.

It's much better suited to common wafer locks then to standard pin and tumbler locks.

I use them almost only in double sided wafer locks, where there are different cuts on each side of the key.

Thanks for the advice. I had just been sticking it in the lock and pressing on it with my thumb. Knowing that it takes a whole hand to operate should help me out.

I've only ever used it on double sided wafer locks too, cars and an Ingersoll SC1. Basically anything that requires room to get the pick in both sides. I read about a trick used where if the keyway is too wide to put in your tension wrench then slide a pick in at the side of the wrench, hope that helps.
Although I am only a newbie but I try to absorb alot of information off this forum.

It sounds like your wrench has telekinesis, thats a little known force like magnetisim that causes objects to fly around rooms. Are other objects going projectile? it could be the house, but maybe its just that wrench for now.
