some tubular locks, when picked with a tool that can be removed in any position, unlike the key which has an indexing tab to make sure its all the way in, (that little flag that sticks out from the key and rides under the outer rim that holds the pins in,
If the cylinder is turned with a pick, and the pick is removed without turning the core of the lock back to the locked position, can leave a pin in the area where the cut to allow insertion of this key flag part and on some locks, this area is large enough to let a pin fall out when its left there, It doesnt happen with the key because the key cannot be removed except when all the pins are in thier proper places, none of them under the cut in the outer rim that holds the pins in.
hope thats clear enough to help,
look around the floor where you were picking it.
Im surprised this happened to an aceII as its one of better tubular locks. Ive seen this happen on cheap bike locks with knockoff ace locks.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
