Having trouble with my Master Lock 220

Postby psycadelia » 7 Mar 2010 21:44

So I've been trying to pick my recently acquired Master Lock 220. In another thread on the site it says the 220 has 5 pins and has security pins. I've tried using a c-rake, half diamond, and a short hook and nothing has worked. I also tried to shim it today but that didn't work either. Basically I'm wondering if anyone has any advice to give me on this lock. I've picked locks with mushroom pins before and they haven't been a problem.
Also my tension wrench sits in the keyway at 45 degrees off of vertical so I don't think I'm applying all of the torque from the wrench into the plug.

Lighten up on the tension and try moving the tension wrench to another part of the lock.

Thx I'll try moving the wrench. Would I put it at the bottom right in front of the first pin? Also if I lighten up on the tension then none of the pins set (I believe because of the odd angle of the tension wrench it is only translating some of the force I apply to it into torque on the plug)

You don't need a lot, barely any actually.

When I pick a 930 or a 220 I use a small allen key I filed down to perfectly fit the slot at the bottom. Works wonders and provides a solid feel for what's going on inside the lock.
