Quick simple question: What keeps the pins from falling out?

Postby HAL_9OOO » 27 Mar 2010 18:11

Sorry for the very simple question but I can't find any images explaining it to me.
What keeps the springs, set pins and key pins from falling out of the lock? The pins float there in midair at an even level and only go up. Thanks!

I hope I understood you right so here I go,

The keyway is narrower than the bottom pin so the curved sides of the keyway holds the pins in place and only allow it to move up and down. Did I get your question correctly?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Yeah that was addressing the question i asked thanks! I guess that's how some of these locks do it since looking down the keyhole i don't see any bars or anything holding them up. Just seems like it would be much harder to manufacture :D.
