How often do you practice picking?

I used to do at least an hour a day if i hadn't done any on the job.

Iv been busy the last few weeks with various projects and decided id have a play again...

I cant believe how crap and ham fisted iv become in that time, iv really got to get some practice in again

When I was working as a locksmith I had the same problem. Majority of this profession require you to focus on generating keys many different kinds of locks, re-keying and installing new locks.

For almost two years the most "difficult" type of lock I had to contend with was a Schalge lock from Home Depot so my skill in lockpicking really diminished to a degree I wasn't happy with. Only recently after quitting that job and being able to focus on picking over anything else have I been able to build back up to the level I was at 2 or 3 years ago.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

I probably average somewhere between 1-2 hours per day.

On a good day that's all I'll do while working is fiddling with locks. On a bad stretch it could be a week or more since I last picked something.

Any answer is going to be the same as "not enough." For instance, I don't practice enough. :)

It varies. I'd say at least 20 minutes a day now. Sometimes I just get an urge to pick locks and it's very easy to lose yourself in it.
