I am having troubles picking a tubular lock that I got out of an old drying machine. The lock has "ESD" and a "3" on it. There are 7 pins in the lock. The pick I have been using is a Southord 7 pin tubular lock pick.
I have noticed that some pins have more spring action than others. I have heard that this is from using different types of metals in the springs to prevent picking.
In detail, I will tell you what I have tried...
1. I push all pins beyond the tip of the pick, I push tip of pick onto flat surface to align all pins with tip of pick. Then I push the tip of the pick into the lock all the way. Then, while trying to turn the pick(as if to open), I slowly pull the pick out of the lock. I have tried to turn the pick each way(left/right) while slowly pulling the pick out. I have also tried going back and forth. Is going back and forth wrong?
2. I put the pick in the lock all the way. Then I push each pin down as far as it'll go, I hold each one down with a finger, and then I tighten the pick up so that all the pins are down all the way. Then I try to turn the pick while slowly pulling it out of the lock. I have tried turning it each way(left/right).
What way should I be turning the pick, to the left or to the right?
Can all tubular locks be picked?
What am I doing wrong?
