Stars and Stripes article

Postby InfernoMDM » 14 Aug 2010 5:33

I did a search, but this might already be here. PS this site is still blocked by the military at work hahahaha.

Well I am getting into picking to pass the time on my deployment. So far got a few padlocks popped and no I am trying to NOT rake. Everyone in the shop has seen or played with my picks, so someone shows me yesterdays military paper, and low and behold "Pick Sport"

Follow the link, and in the top left corner hit the Archive. Then click on 13/8/2010 and it should be on page 14. If someone wants to they can download that page as a PDF and post it... I am not smart enough for that.

Its the associated press article. the closeup appears to be one of Matt Fiddlers titanium picks. I haven't seen stars and stripes for decades, there was an article in the asia version in 1969 about hitchhiking highway one in viet nam. that I remember, I hitchhiked a bit there, right past the iron triangle on thunder road, from n An to Lai Khe. I remember being in a jeep driven by a light colonel when we drove right by some battle between the Arvns who were assaulting a rubber plantation and using some light tank with 40mm pompoms.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

That is indeed one of the TI Bogotas. He really put a lot of thought and care into how he produces those, Rai, I'm glad you guys are working together. Gotta say, I'm pretty proud it got into Stars & Stripes. That's really exciting. Thanks for posting it, Inferno!

Yeah the funny thing is I saw the article and thought, "Hey those are MY picks." I emailed serepicks about it as well. Lots of funpicking away at work between jobs and people now don't give me crap.

You just gave me a good idea. I'm going to laminate the Stars and Stripes article and carry it on me, so in case I get static from anyone, I can take it out and show whomever is giving me a hard time about picking.

mmm 1 step closer to legitimacy.
