I RECENTLY RECEIVED A SALVAGE BMW FROM A DEALER AUCTION. THE CAR CAME WITH NO KEY AND THE DOORS ARE LOCKED. CAN ANYONE HELP ME GET INTO THE CAR? WHICH LOCK PICK SET DO I NEED? CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE PROCEDURE? IM TRYING TO SAVE MONEY. BMW DEALER WANT TO CHARGE ME ALMOST $400 FOR THE KEY.

If you smash the window and leave your ID on the seat BMW will send you a free key.

Heads up, your CAPS LOCK is on.

Car opening/picking is reserved for the Advanced areas, and cannot be discussed in public. Otherwise, if we help you out, someone may stumble upon this post down the line and learn how to get into a BMW that is not theirs. That's something we cannot allow.

Your local locksmith or AAA tow truck guy will be able to get into the car for you, but generating a key for that car may very well be a dealer only thing, because a lot of them have RFID transponders, and without a key in hand, a locksmith probably wont be able to originate a key and transponder, he can only clone it from another key/key-fob.

The price of $400 is typical of a dealership. You probably saved money at the auction, but now you gotta invest some money to be able to fix the car and drive it or sell it. It is what it is man.

Good Luck,
Squelchtone

Who needs picks for a door lock ?? Open the door (or pay someone to) the key MIGHT be inside, many auction places tie them with a steel cable to the steering column. I got my truck at an auction and the cable was there, broken, the key wound up under the drivers seat. Rumor has that some less than nice people hide the keys, to discourage the rookie buyers and to lower the bid price.

LOOK in the vehicle very carefully.

I assume you saved more than $400 when you won the auction, I certainly hope you paid very cheap for a car that can not even be started.

I heard of this working before... You get a free ride to a "resort" within 12 hours as well... Lots of exercise, male companionship, and 3 square meals a day.

Communal showers are not the greatest thou.. and its no where near a 4 star resort... Oh don't drop the soap.

perhaps there is some way to track the previous owners and see if they still have a key.
I dont' have a suggestion on how to do this, though the car facts websites may know something,
its just a thought for a workaround.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
