[Beginner]

Hello, i am new at here and would like to start lockpicking for a hobby.
I have successfully picked some locks with paperclips but now i would like to buy some real picks. I am from Finland and i hope if here is anyone who is Finland too, would tell me where i could buy a cheap pickset or jacknife (couse those things are COOL . I appreciate any information thanks.

Welcome to LP101!
There are some manuals on how to make you own picks out of metal 'scrap', hacksaw blades and street-bristles. I use home-made picks, and they works nice. Just use the [Search] button in the top of the page. Always do so if you want to know something, if you have 274 posts saying the same thing, you just want to say [CENSORED]

If you are new you've GOT to read the MIT-guide to lock-picking.

I have read that MIT guide and some other guides found on internet. I would love to make some own picks but i dont have any powertools and i dont think that i could make good picks only with file and sandpaper.

You can actually make great picks from just a file and sandpaper, it just takes longer, but you will end up with fewer mistakes and your picks wont be heat damaged and bend over easily.

Welcome. If I was you try and buy a cheap set of picks or make your own and give the jackknife a wide berth at the start they don’t give much feedback have a look at www.lockpickshop.com the prices are good and they will give you a 10% discount to LP101 members.

I am going to try make my own picks of street-bristles. My mom works on a company witch makes those so im not going to have short of material

What does that "wide berth" mean? i'm new and not so familiar with locksmith terms, I bet that it isn't really locksmith word, but i'm not so good at english as well

Do you have a good link to some resources about making picks and tension wrenches ?

I'm also new to lockpicking and use paper-clips. The first lock I tried to open was the one on my desk-drawer, an A-ZUM 001. When I got bored of it, because of it being too easy, I moved on to a Tri-Circle 263.
I'm probably never going to buy some "real" picks, and I thank all of you who have allready posted hints here, on where I could find info about making my own picks.

I was wondering about my Tri-Circle. Is it a good challenge for a beginner, or should I try with something else first?

If its a brass model (not iron) it should be quite easy and in my opinion its a great practice lock for a beginner
