Discus Lock Keyways

Postby Farlark » 10 Dec 2010 2:05

Is there a practical way to cope with the small keyways of discus padlocks using commercial, non-slimline picks?

Yep... use top of keyway tension. Well, bottom in this case... depending on you hold it... just tension the same side as the pins

That'll give you more space. If it's still too fiddly then just make a pick for them. You can make a good slimline pick out of wiper insert, doesn't take too long but you'll probably mess a couple up before you get the technique for it.

+1 .

If you keep picking locks, you'll run into this from time to time. It's actually worth investing in a set of slim lines. Once you start picking a lot, you shouldn't be bending/breaking any picks if you're doing it right. Honestly all I use is slimlines now. I find the reg picks too bulky even though the feedback is better. Good luck, broseph. :)
