Thinning a pick lot set...

Hey guys, I've ordered a GOSO lock pick set but after reading quite a few reviews on here I've been informed they're going to be generally too thick for euro locks... well some of them are anyway.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to use to sand them in order to make them a bit more narrower. Or should I just leave them incase it weakens the structure?

My advice is that you do not act on what you 'heard,read' until you get a euro practice lock and experience the problem.

euro locks may have some tight keyways but other euro locks have keyways that appear large.

modify your tools to fit a real problem, not one you read about.

I did have another idea of selling this kit on and getting the southOrd slimline set instead now.. Hmm!

The hooks in the goso set are fine for most euro locks... the half diamonds etc are the ones which are too thick. There is a half snowman and a kind of super shallow half diamond which don't need thinning so you can use those too. Everything else is too thick or too big in general; a lot of it is designed for autos and it's probably stamped out of the same sheet.

You'll get plenty of use out of the hooks but you coulda just bought those seperately for a fiver... still, it's a nice case and looks impressive

Thanks Solomon, looks like I'll be able to get along with this kit just fine then.

If I do find a pick that's too thick I guess sanding it down will be no problem.
