Repinning issues

Postby Flatline » 30 Dec 2010 2:46

Hi all, I just started db's exercise with adding pins one by one on a kwikset, got to 4 pins (woo!) and realized that my wrong sized wooden dowel really sucked as a plug follower. In what seemed like a stroke of brilliance at the time, I grabbed a 9mm socket to replace the poorly sized dowel. In my excitement (or n00bness) I managed to bugger up 2 of my top springs and lose one of the other ones :? . So managed to bend or shove 3 of the pins back in, but I'm down from a 5 pin lock, to a 3 pin. I have a couple of other cheap locks to play with right now, but I don't want to chalk this up to a loss yet.

What are my options are far as replacing springs? Would it come down to just buying a repinning kit?

Thanks much!

If you are just starting a hobby, you dont need at this time a sort of pin kit like.. for a couple of springs of standard types or pins, i am sure if you visit your nearest locksmith shops they may give you some of that springs/pins (maybe for free) since these are of abundance in their environment. regards
