Medeco angle setting keys

Postby Eyes_Only » 12 May 2011 23:03

For those of you who are familiar with the angle setting keys (not the code setting keys) I have a question. In Marc Tobais' book it shows the keys that is used to set the R and L angle having both the aft and fore cuts on the working end at the tip. Do they really need both aft and fore cuts for these keys to work?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Required to account for all variations in the keys, and doing both cuts reduces the # of keys needed.

Even if you're setting just one pin at a time?

The angle setting keys shown on page 195 figure 1210.

They have the code spaces marked up the side. You could go with a single cut on the tip and mark one side of the key to indicate aft and the other side with different markings could be fore.
I could only guess as to why they were made with two cuts.

Notice the key at the bottom of the picture. One cut only, and says aft.
I bet the other side is marked with different lines and says fore.

Is it possible to get these keys anywhere premade or maybe just blanks to make my own? Also does anyone have specs on these bad boys or are they in Open In Thirty Seconds?

I believe the specs for the 4 keys are in the book but not the 16 key set that is required for newer m3 locks. You cannot buy them anywhere premade that i know of. The blank used as i recall is a mosler safe deposit blank but i dont recall off hand for sure the number.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

It's a Mosler 1095A, I believe.
