Swedish safe

Postby Portman » 12 Jul 2011 10:17

Hi All,
Been messing around for a year or so with locks and just a new job, in my new place of work there is a big safe in the corner it looks at mé every day, my boss has unsuccesfully tried to drill into with the most expensive drill bit hé could find, it's from the 20's/30's we here from an old guy that came to have a look, hé put in a small camera and it was clear that it was full of paperwork, hé said hé could Open it but wanted half, my boss Said No then a few years later changed his mind but by this time the old fella had died and i really don't have the ability to dó this, are Any of you in Denmark with a knowledge of old swedish safes.
I should add that it was behind a Wall that was exposed when the place was renevated, the building owners have No knowledge of there being a safe there, it just has an old fashioned key aperture and o Can only see in about an inch, at a guess i would say its about 4.5 feet tall 2 ish wide and depth i don't know as its fitted to the wall.
If anyone is interested in this post( my first time) I'll post a few pics next time.
Rob.
Ps just previewed my message and Can see errors but can't seem to edit, hate iphones.

its clear enough, I just leave the errors in, im not an editor.
I was going to refer you to Matt Blaze site where there is an article on safes, but then you said it was a key and matt is talking about dial combinations,

I think you should start looking at articles on impressioning a key and get some experience with that on practice locks, and for that safe, make it lever locks, after that you can start thinking about how you would go about opening that safe,

you say its already been drilled and can see whats in it, that seems to indicate that you have put a scope and light in there,

[edit mh: destructive opening stuff removed]

Thanks for the reply guys.

I tried to access the advanced safe area but it states that I don't have permission to be in this area so will I still see responses or does it require some other membership?

Thanks in advance.

[quote="Portman"]Hi All,
hé put in a small camera and it was clear that it was full of paperwork, hé said hé could Open it but wanted half,

Now why would he want half of the paperwork? Just what kind of paper are we talking about ?

I could see a set fee, for opening. But part of the contents ?

Ortin you are right, half seemed like alot, a set fee was offered but hé Said in these circumstances hé wants half, the paper is not cash, A4 and the like, this an old building the safe was probably put in not long after it was built( the safe that is) and this area was occupied by the germans not long after that, it could be Bonds, interesting Info or just useless but his interest just increased mine.
All his tools were hand made( apart from the camera of course) nothing fancy, large swedish Keys bent iron and god knows what else.
Before i go any further i Think I'll have to get one them camera's to look at the mechanism if possible, next time i'm on I'll post some pics, not sure whether here or in the advanced section, going to have a look at that now.
