Small keyed lock, how to open it?

Postby Panoply » 9 Aug 2011 8:12

I am working with a small keyed lock. To be exact, a Sentry Safe ESB-3. The keyhole is too small for the picks I have. Would anyone care to help me out with some advice on tools? This will certainly come up again.

THANKS!
Jeremy

I think I know what you have, its a wafer tumbler lock that only has a few pins and could probably be picked by simple things, like bobby pins, or paper clips, don't make any picktips on them, that would probably make them too large for the keyspace, you can probably pick this kind of lock with straight probes that have no picktips. the pins dont move much or have much variation. likly these types of locks have very few bittings available and a complete collection of the keys to them would be a small collection.

Panoply, questions about locks that operate cash boxes, safes, etc are not allowed in the main area, you're gonna have to work up to get advanced access.

In the mean time, Raimundo gave you some good advice, so let's leave it at that.

Also, you have a very similar question in another sub forum, please only post once, we try to keep the place clean and tidy without cross posting.

locking this thread now, we cant help you any further, if we do, some teenager trying to get into their parents Oxycontin filed Sentry Safe will find this thread and use it for something bad, I hope you understand where we're coming from.
