@Levi_09:
Wow... That doesn't sound like a hobby type question at all...
In fact it sounds a lot like the same line of flawed logic that university students facing a similar stupidity fee for misplacing (losing) their dorm room keys... Only you are a staff member and should therefore know better...
The lost keys need to be reported to the university lock shop so the proper people in charge of security and the department executives of the space involved can make the determination as to whether or not the areas accessed by the lost keys should be re-keyed and new keys issued to everyone who has access or just to leave it alone and cut you a new set of keys... You definitely do not have that level of authority if you are more concerned about illicitly obtaining key blanks and copying a co-worker's keys without anyone knowing to avoid a $60 fee...
This website is not about how to willfully and purposefully interfere with security systems which are in place and in use protecting property -- which is exactly what you are trying to do by concealing the loss of the university property which you were assigned (the keys) to avoid a key replacement fee... Be honest, admit to the loss of the keys and take responsibility for that... Because if something goes missing from that area and your set of keys are the ONLY ones which are not the original artifacts issued by the lock shop then liability for any damages or losses which have occurred and required all issued keys to be inspected, could land in squarely your lap either by university directive or by the universities' property insurance carrier's legal action against you to recover the monies they paid out for any covered loss... All so you could save $60 and your reputation...
This is right up there on the top of the list recently for the Darwin Award for the most epically stupid first posting by a new member on LP101...
