Electric pick (black and....) blues!!!

Postby mrbravo4373 » 13 Sep 2012 3:53

I have the South ord electric pick ( 3 c batteries) and for the life of me i cant pick a thing with it. Ive tried adjusting the vibration but i still cant pick anything. I even went as far as making some different shape needles. AAARRGGHH! Ive been manuelly picking for about 7 years now so i understand the principals of lock manipulation i bought this pick because i wanted to try a different way other than manuel, i figured a good lockman should know all kinds of ways of manipulation. Can someone PLEASE advise meon this pick, is there any tricks or how much or vibration should i be useing? I to determine this? Thanks everyone.

dont insert it too far, the hits will all be striking the boltworks, dont insert it too little it will not hit the last pin :)
try a simple deadbolt, this should go easily.
padlocks are smaller keyways so the deadbolts are the best practice.

I have heard that if the vibro pick runs too fast, it can make the pins float on top of the hits and never fall far enough to reach a shearline
One thing you can do to test this is take those new batteries out and put in some worn batteries,

look at the keyway look where the pins stop in that warding, and see if you can put the needle under them,
it might be that the keyway wards are in the way, try striking straight up then try again with a right tilt
the try again with a left tilt.

Thats all Ive got, hope it helps

i had a hard time using my HPC electropick at first. After a bunch of fiddling around i flipped it so the power button was on the bottom (removing the bit and replacing it to reflect the new orientation) and shortly after that i was poppin locks like a boss. then shortly after that i got bored with it
