Cant pick 5 pin mul-t lock, what am i doing wrong?

Postby lawrence68 » 13 Sep 2012 12:55

Been at this lock for days now and cant figure out what the hell am i doing wrong , i even took this lock apart and started pin by pin , i can pick it when it has 3 pins , but when i get to 5 pins i set all of them and it still doesnt open , what might be wrong ? Could it be that i overset the pins ? maybe its a special lock or something ?
i used southord diamond pick , and i also tried using the H&M pick tool , which still didnt work for me , i set them only till i hear the first click , i dont push it all the way in , is there something i am doing wrong ?

heres a picture of the lock , thanks everybody http://i46.tinypic.com/2vvubet.jpg

If you're getting stuck after the big rotation it could be that you're accidentally oversetting one of the inner pins. You can release a good bit of tension to reset them all without resetting any of the outer pins so try that and go over them again.

If you're not getting the rotation then it could be an overset outer pin, or maybe you're snagged on a security pin somewhere. I'm not too familiar with classics to be honest, not certain if they have sec pins but I'd imagine they do. You've had it apart so I'm sure you can work things out... interactives definitely have spooled or serrated drivers but I find them easier for some reason. Same principles of picking though so I dunno why the classics are so much harder. Maybe it's just me :?

I find the mushroom key pins are swines - it's painfully easy to overset them, and virtually impossible to drop them back without resetting everything. Do not like!

wow , i been at this lock for a few hrs yesterday and a few more today , cant see what am i doing wrong , i find the binding pin , which i think is the fourth one , but then from another point of view it is really rough , would it be the binding pin , ? it is too hard on me , could it be that it is not the binding pin and i start on the wrong pin ?
has anyone picked multi lock ? what might i be doing wrong , help me please , thanks!

I've picked lots, but still have some I simply can't do. They're not an easy pic for a beginner, so maybe put it in the naughty box for a while before it drives you insane.
