egg timer

what sort of key way is it that you usually find on steering wheel locks and montery padlocks. looks a bit like an egg timer, can these be picked. i have a feeling writing this that it could be wardered thinking about the picks ive seen. key is square shaped with notches in it.

Their usually double-sided wafers. If I'm wrong about the wafers ( which I doubt) please inform me. To pick this lock, you must have jigglers. And because the automotive part of this forum is restricted, you should consider reading more about the topic on other parts of the internet.

im not sure. the hole is big enough to almost fit a pencil in. and the beginning of the whole spins round when you move it. cant feel any wafers. sorry dont know how to post pics.

If it's that wide then it can't be an automotive lock. Unless it's an old automotive lock that I'm not aware of.

Sounds like what you have there is an Abloy TYPE disc lock.

The only other possibility is that it is a really old warded lock, and I can't imagine that at all.

sorry im not describing it well. i bought a lot of them for my shop from sks so they are new. and i also have the same key way on my stop lock pro on my car. imagine the key to be cheap cigarette lighter with notches cut out of it, usuall have a black plastic cap.

I wish you could provide a picture, but that certainly sounds like a disc style lock. Another similar style lock is the TIBB lock found on many European Ford vehicles.

In this case, a picture really is worth a thousand words.
